Intervention strategies
Claiming before the courts, which is a feature of the original institutional work, was strengthened in recent years with the exploration of litigation as a public policy advocacy tool.
At present CELS is litigating over 100 cases before Argentine courts and more than 30 cases before international human rights organizations.
The legal treatment of these cases makes it possible to work on structural patterns of human rights violations, challenging the content, orientation or implementation of public policies which affect broad social sectors. Thus, the court proceedings are not an end in themselves but part of a broader strategy of rights promotion and protection.
