CELS’ Mental Health Team has been in operation since 1982. A fundamental part of its work agenda focuses on addressing the multiple consequences of State Terrorism on individual and collective Mental Health, as well as the effects of the various impunity laws that were passed in the country.

Starting in 1991, CELS receives a subsidy from the United Nation’s Fund of Voluntary Contributions for the Victims of Torture, designed to provide clinical assistance to victims of torture and their relatives.

From 1999 to 2004 a grant was received from Amnesty - Sweden, for the treatment of specific cases of children of missing parents.

The team provides assistance in the following areas:

• Psychological
• Social
• Legal
• Pharmacological
• Psychiatric
