On September 12, CELS held its annual general assembly. After two and a half years as president, Sofía Tiscornia chose to step down from her role. However, she will remain involved, continuing to contribute her knowledge, ideas, and steadfast support to the work of CELS.
The board elected María José Guembe as the new president. A member of CELS since 1997, María José is a lawyer and holds a master’s degree in International Human Rights Law. She has been deeply involved in the pursuit of memory, truth, and justice for crimes against humanity, particularly through her leadership in CELS’ Memory and Fight Against Impunity program.
Luis Fara and Dora Barrancos have decided to step down from the board after years of dedication. Joining the board are Diego Montón, Eleonor Faur, Ernesto Meccia, Clarisa Gambera, and Manuel Garrido, who will now work alongside current members Paula Abal Medina, Gonzalo Conte, Damián Loreti, Gustavo Palmieri, Juan Gabriel Tokatlian, Verónica Torras, and Diana Wassner.
